The Stripes On The Tiger edition by Joan Lowel Literature Fiction eBooks

Cornelia only met her husband-to-be a month previous to her marriage, arranged by her dominating aunt and caretaker – married hastily to the man her parents had already decided on when she was much younger, and whom her stern aunt had considered to be a good choice, she is spirited away with him as he and his regiment follow General Cornwallis to India.
Returned just barely from the war in America, he is surrounded by glory and mystique despite the British defeat for his courage, and Cornelia, trusting and young and incapable of changing her fate, feels great admiration and even attraction to the man who is in his prime and very handsome as well as well known and rich.
But after the British troops have reached India, Cornelia begins to learn more about her husband’s past, his methods, and indeed, his life…
The Stripes On The Tiger edition by Joan Lowel Literature Fiction eBooks
For a story about a reluctant bride, this Regency set novel is actually brilliant. Cornelia was raised by a horrible, austere aunt, and is married to Col. Wolfe, who is about ten years or so her senior, with very little time to even decide what she wants. Wolfe is actually a very decent man, so if you’re worried about lack of consent, which is sadly usual for this type of a novel, don’t fret! There is actually NOTHING in this story that would have the lack of consent in there! (As someone who is very much pro consent and women’s rights, I salute this book!)It’s still a steamy read, though. Between the two of them, both Cornelia and her husband need to adjust to their new situation, and Wolfe, coming directly from the war in the ex-Colonies, now free America, has a lot of dark past he’s not too keen to discuss with his young wife. The two sail to India, on Wolfe’s next assignment, where Cornelia slowly discovers the nice sides of the culture as well as the dark (caution – a creepy Thuggee cult situation included!), and slowly begins to get to know her husband better. A must-read for all of you out there who love the reluctant bride/dark man type of stories!

The Stripes On The Tiger edition by Joan Lowel Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This is a good eBook for fans of romance and historical fiction. It's set in England as well as India during the late 1700's and seems pretty historically accurate. The characters and the plot are interesting, and the sensual scenes are excellent.
If you're looking for a light romance novel with an interesting twist, this book is worth reading.
